I need a service
Getting a service
How does ServiceJan work?
Tell us what you need, compare the providers who can come, and choose the one that fits. Book, track and pay in the app.
Can I choose my service provider?
Yes. You see who is available, with their prices, ratings and experience, and you decide.
Can I see who is available before booking?
Yes. When you send a request, ServiceJan shows the providers who do that work in your area, so you can look through them before you choose.
Do I need the app?
No. You can request a service online. The app adds booking, tracking and payment on your phone.
Do I need an account to request service?
Not to get started. The online request form, and the request forms on providers' own websites, take your request without a login.
Is ServiceJan available everywhere?
It depends on the service and who covers your area. Send a request to see the options near you.
What if my service isn't listed?
Send the request anyway, with a short description. We will look for who covers it.
What about emergencies or same-day service?
Same-day, evening and weekend service depend on the providers in your area. The app shows the same-day options it has, and you can always call Support at +1 (870) SERV JAN, seven days a week.
Your request and the job
Can I track my service request?
Yes. You can follow it from request to done: the scheduled time, status updates, messages, and at the end the report, photos and invoice. Your provider decides exactly which updates you get.
Can I message the service provider through ServiceJan?
Yes. Messages and updates go through ServiceJan, so they stay with the job instead of scattering across texts and calls.
Can I send pictures or documents?
Yes. Add photos or files to your request so the provider can see the problem before they arrive.
Can I get estimates and invoices through ServiceJan?
Yes. Providers send estimates, service reports and invoices through ServiceJan, and they stay with the job.
Will I get confirmations and updates?
Your provider chooses which ones you get. ServiceJan can send appointment confirmations, job updates and invoices by email or message.
Paying and your records
Can I pay through ServiceJan?
Yes, when your provider takes payments through ServiceJan. The payment methods on offer are the ones your provider has set up.
Can I see my past jobs?
Yes, if your provider gives you portal access. There you can see your jobs, invoices, reports and photos.
Can I request another service after a job is done?
Yes. Start a new request, or a follow-up linked to the finished job, from your account or your provider's portal.
Requesting on a provider's website
Can I request service from a specific provider's website?
Yes. Providers on ServiceJan can put a request form on their own website, and a request sent there goes straight to that provider.
Will a provider's website form pass me to other providers?
No. The form is set up for that one provider, so your request goes to them and not to a list of others.
I run a service business
Running your business
Is ServiceJan only for finding new customers?
No. It is built first to run the business you already have. The marketplace adds new jobs on top.
What is the difference between the provider platform and the customer app?
The provider platform runs your business: customers, scheduling, dispatch, messages, reports, payments and field work. The customer app is how people find, request, book, track and pay for a service. Each can be used without the other.
Can I use ServiceJan just for my existing business?
Yes. You can run your whole operation on ServiceJan without ever taking a marketplace job.
Can I manage partner or account work?
Yes. Private, partner and marketplace jobs all run on the same board and the same record, and each keeps its own customer or account relationship.
Can I manage both residential and commercial work?
Yes. You can serve homeowners and business accounts side by side: retailers, manufacturers, warranty companies, designers, commercial clients and more.
How do I get started?
Apply for provider access. We review it and open your account. Then you set up your company, services, technicians, territories, availability, pricing and notifications, and you are ready for new work.
Services, technicians and territories
How do I set up my services?
Turn on the services your company actually provides. Then give each technician the ones that match their skills.
Can different technicians provide different services?
Yes. Each technician gets the services and skills that fit them.
Can I turn off a service we don't do?
Yes. Your list should show only what your company actually does, so switch off the rest.
Does each technician get their own profile?
Yes. Each technician can have their own login, schedule, services, work area and availability, and is dispatched as themselves.
Can technicians cover different ZIP codes?
Yes. Each technician's work area is set on its own, so different people can cover different territories.
Can I choose where I work?
Yes. You set your ZIP codes and territories, and they decide which requests reach you.
Can I change my territory later?
Yes. Widen it, narrow it or move it as your team and capacity change.
Can travel or service charges vary by area?
Yes. You can set minimum service charges, travel charges and area surcharges, so your pricing follows where the job is.
The marketplace and the app
Does a ServiceJan account put me in the marketplace automatically?
No. Running your business on ServiceJan and taking part in the marketplace are separate, and each is switched on by itself.
What does “Make Technician Available in App” mean?
It lets a technician be considered for customer requests that come through the ServiceJan app. It only counts while your company is in the marketplace, and it still follows that technician's services, work area and schedule.
Does turning on a technician turn on every territory?
No. Check each technician's services, work areas, schedule and app settings before you turn them on.
Do more technicians mean more jobs?
Not by themselves. Well set up technicians add capacity and cover more ground, but demand still comes down to the service, the place, the timing and what customers ask for.
Are new jobs guaranteed?
No. Demand depends on your trade, area and season. The platform is useful either way.
Moving from another system
Can I import years of old jobs?
Not as completed ServiceJan jobs. Work you did before ServiceJan stays in your old records, and your history here starts with your first job here.
Can old jobs count toward my marketplace experience or ranking?
No. Only work done through ServiceJan counts toward your verified experience, marketplace standing and pricing data.
What is the best way to switch from another system?
Pick a start date. From that day every new job goes into ServiceJan, while older jobs are finished or kept in your previous system or an archive.
Can I keep my old system as an archive?
Yes. Many businesses keep the old system or its exports for reference, and run everything new on ServiceJan.
Partner and account portal
Can partners and commercial accounts send work to us directly?
Yes. Give them portal access and they create work orders and service requests for your company themselves.
Where do partners log in?
At the same address as the rest of your team, hub.servicejan.com. Their login tells ServiceJan which company and account they belong to.
Will a partner see only its own jobs?
Yes. Partner users see only the records of their own account, never other customers or partners.
Can partners upload photos, documents and videos?
Yes. They can attach files to the job and talk to you on it.
Can partners see appointments, reports, estimates and invoices?
Yes, within the permissions you give them: scheduled dates, service reports, estimates, invoices, photos and the rest of the job.
Can partners pay invoices in the portal?
Yes, once your ServiceJan payment processing is set up.
Is partner access kept away from pay and admin?
Yes. Partners cannot see other customers, other accounts, technician pay or your administration settings.
How do I classify a partner account?
Pick the account type that fits the relationship from the suggested list, or write your own description.
How do I give a partner access the first time?
Send them the portal link, their username or email and a temporary password. They log in and change the password.
Requests from your website
Can customers request service on my website and have it land in ServiceJan?
Yes. Put the ServiceJan request form on your site, and each request becomes a new job in your account.
Is the website form only for my company?
Yes. It carries your company's integration key, so requests go straight to you and never show other providers.
Can I use one request page for my website, Google, Facebook and Instagram?
Yes. Put the form on one page of your website and point every other channel at that page.
Can I tell website requests apart from app requests?
Yes. Requests from your website are recorded separately from app requests, together with the website they came from.
Does ServiceJan tell me whether a request came from Google, Facebook or Instagram?
Not on its own. ServiceJan sees the website a request came from, not the ad or post that sent the visitor there. To compare channels, use your website's analytics or a separate landing page for each one.
Is the integration key my password?
No. It only lets your website send in service requests. It gives no access to customers, jobs or your account settings.
Can I limit the form to my own website?
Yes. Domain controls mean requests are accepted only from the websites you approve.
What if I change my website address?
Tell us before you switch, so the new address is approved before the form goes live there.
Does adding the form turn on notifications or payments?
No. Requests from the form follow the notification and payment settings your account already has.
Can I test the website form?
Yes, but a test is a real request. Use your own contact details and put TEST in the request.
Does deleting a test request undo the emails it sent?
No. Deleting the job takes it out of your records and statistics, but messages already sent cannot be recalled.
Notifications, reports and records
Can I control who gets notified?
Yes. You decide which messages go to customers, partners and technicians, and when.
Are user actions logged?
Yes. ServiceJan keeps an activity history, so authorized users can see who did what and when.
Can I track how the business is doing?
Yes. Built-in reports cover jobs, completion, turnaround, activity and more.
Can ServiceJan data help with scheduling and coverage?
Yes. With all your work in one system, you get clean numbers on capacity, coverage, demand, response and completion to plan from.
Can deleted items be recovered?
Some can. Many deleted records stay recoverable, which protects you against accidental deletes. If you need something back, contact us with what was deleted and when.
Payments and fees
Can customers pay invoices online?
Yes. With ServiceJan Merchant Services, or another supported payment setup, customers and account users pay invoices on the platform.
Can I charge processing fees to some customers only?
Yes, where the law allows it. Set the fee rules in your merchant settings, and check the requirements where you work before turning them on.
Can minimum or travel fees differ by customer, territory, ZIP code or technician?
By territory and ZIP code, yes (see travel and area charges). For rules by customer or by technician, tell us what you need and we will tell you what your account supports.
Plans and growth
Is there a free trial?
Yes. 30 days free, with no credit card needed.
Is there pricing for larger businesses?
Yes. Enterprise pricing covers larger teams, advanced integrations and special requirements. Talk to us.
Can ServiceJan grow with my company?
Yes. Add people, technicians, territories, accounts and workflows as you grow.
Still have a question?
Call dispatch or write to us, seven days a week. Or see the other ways in on the contact page.
